- Fined: Production manager deleted 20 company files in anger after being firedAngered at being terminated by his company, a production manager deleted 20 documents stored in the company’s Google Drive. Tan Wei Chiang, 30, then lied to his supervisor that the documents were still in the Google Drive. After he was investigated by the police, he claimed that the documents had belonged to him. While the company, 786 SG, managed to recover 16 of the documents, it had to recreate three documents from scratch. Tan was fined $5,000 on Tuesday (7 December) after pleading guilty to one count under the Computer Misuse Act for unauthorised modification in January this year.11 Nov 2024
- Man fined for deleting company's files from Google Drive after being firedThe court heard that Tan worked as a production manager at meat production firm 786 SG in the company's office at Aljunied Industrial Estate. His job scope included planning the production schedule and checking on the quality of goods. On Jan 4 this year, he tendered a resignation letter and began serving a 30-day notice period, as required under his employment agreement. On Jan 12, his direct supervisor handed a letter of termination to Tan, informing him that his employment was terminated with one day's notice on account of his overall performance and work not meeting the company's expectations.11 Nov 2024
